Josh Hamilton Gets Gingered!

Last night, the Texas Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 5-1 and will go on to play the New York Yankees for a chance to advance to the World Series. Although an amazing win, yes, that’s not the best part. When Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton walked in the locker room, his teammates doused him in ginger ale.

“Everybody yelled ‘Ginger ale!’ and I just jumped in the middle of the pile and they doused me with it,” Hamilton told ESPN. “It was the coolest thing for my teammates to understand why I can’t be a part of the celebration, and for them to adapt it for me to be a part of it says a lot about my teammates.”

Hamilton’s struggles with drug and alcohol abuse have long been documented, so it’s nice to see his teammates throw a sober party. But Hamilton isn’t the only straight-laced Ranger.

“I’m drug-free; he’s drug-free,” pitcher C.J. Wilson said. “We stay away from anything. It just allows the team to gel maybe 3 or 4 percent more, and allows us all to experience the traditional celebration without having any sort of downside.”

As to when their next ginger party will be? Their next game will be against the Yankees tomorrow night.
